Rest Day in Kingsport Tennessee

Taking a day off from traveling, watching some world cup and working on the blog.

Yesterday was the first time I was not excited to get on the bike. A couple days of going through the West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky roads with a lot of twists and turns and really challenging riding including a couple of tight turns where I strayed over the center line and a section of road that was barely even two car widths wide with a lot of really tight turns, no shoulder, no lines (and fortunately, almost no traffic) left me feeling doubtful about my ability to complete this journey. Especially complete it without a mishap.

Toward the end of the day yesterday I was on easier roads and started having fun again. I also kept reminding myself that, while challenging, I did stay within my limitations and worked on my technique and got better as a result.

The expectation is that tomorrow with some nice cool weather and some not difficult riding in store as well as being rested I will once again be able to relax and just enjoy the experience.

Lastely, after just a couple of days of trying to follow a plan developed by ChatGPT, I realized that I really do want to just look at a map and figure out where I want to go. Most of my forays into parks and sites have not been worth the effort.

Peace.
