This has been part of what I am calling you phase one. The section of the trip covers leaving Florida going up the Eastern seaboard hitting Eastern Pennsylvania and New England.
One of the key features of this trip is seeing people that I know. Visiting family, friends, and friends from high school. Some plan dates and pre-booked stays that have in some ways influenced or controlled my flow and timing of trips and length of trips and when I need to be places and so forth. This phase will end on May 31st in Albany, New York.
It has been a true joy and pleasure to spend time with people that I had not seen for a long time and have deeper conversations and tell stories and laugh, and I have been the recipient of some tremendous generosity and kindness in terms of offering places to stay and being fed and welcomed.
There have also been times when I have allowed myself to focus on the need to get to a place by a specific point of time instead of enjoying the moment and the road. There are a couple of people that will try to see over the next couple of months and outside of that it will be a very free-flowing spontaneous journey, though I have a general route in mind. I am going to be looking for signs and recommendations and people and some last minute research to identify places to go and just let myself do as much as I can and experience whatever it is that happens.
And yet that is not even specifically the plan because it could be that after a few weeks of that I find it doesn’t work and I will adapt different strategy. This is all very much a learn as you go process, which I know for many of my friends and some of my family is a completely foreign concept or way of being and yet it feels very much my nature.
